Share Your Big Ideas at the 2018 Prosperity Summit!

Hosted biennially in the Washington, DC area by Prosperity Now, the Prosperity Summit offers three days of sessions, networking events, keynote addresses and advocacy visits to Capitol Hill.

This year, Prosperity Now is also organizing a series of Lightning Talks—eight-minute presentations that allow speakers to share exciting ideas in a short space of time. We invite you to submit a proposal for a Lightning Talk that will inform, influence and/or inspire our diverse Summit audience of practitioners, advocates, researchers, policymakers and leaders. The Lightning Talks will be featured on a special Reception Mainstage during our popular Street Fair Networking Reception on the evening of Wednesday, September 5, 2018.

What We’re Looking For

This series of short talks is intended to convey fresh, compelling information in a creative, clearly articulated message. We are looking for dynamic talks that showcase new ideas, findings or trends in an engaging way. All are welcome to apply! We’re especially looking to feature new voices, along with current leaders in our field.

Presentations may highlight:

  • Key research findings with meaningful implications for policy and practice

  • Promising practices or innovative initiatives that represent a leap forward in serving communities

  • Big ideas, proposals or hypotheses that have the potential to move our field forward or in new directions

The use of slides is allowed, but not required. These presentations should not be highly technical. Rather, presenters should craft presentations in the style of TED or Ignite Talks. We encourage you to think creatively about the story you are telling with your presentation and its design. An eight-minute time limit will be strictly enforced, and to keep things moving quickly, there will be no Q&A after each presentation. Speakers will have the opportunity to interact with the audience following their talks.

Submission Guidelines

To submit a proposal, complete this form. We’ll ask you to provide:

  • Speaker’s name, affiliation, title and contact information

  • Talk title

  • A description (no more than 400 words, please) of your proposed talk. If relevant, provide links to papers or other resources being presented during your talk.

  • A description of how you’ll make the content engaging for the Summit audience

Deadline: Submissions Must Be Received by 11:59 EDT, June 6, 2018

Selected presenters will be notified by June 20, 2018. Lightning Talk presenters will receive complimentary registration to the Summit and may be eligible to receive travel support.
