Call for Financial Well-Being Research Proposals (Practitioners Encouraged to Apply!)

Abt Associates, with Prosperity Now and on behalf of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), is issuing a Call for Research Proposals for the Financial Well-Being Research Symposium (the Symposium). The goal of the Symposium is to bring together academics, policymakers, researchers and financial educators from across a wide range of disciplines to enhance understanding of the factors and interventions that help people improve and maintain their financial well-being.

Ten researchers will receive $35,000 to support their proposed research; write a research paper and corresponding brief summarizing the research; and present the findings at the Bureau’s Financial Well-Being Research Symposium on November 13, 2019 at the CFPB headquarters. Research must utilize the CFPB’s Financial Well-Being Scale (either from the Bureau’s public use dataset or from other datasets). The competition is open to all applicants, and we welcome proposals from practitioners who have been collecting data from their clients or participants with the Financial Well-Being Scale, as well as researchers.

The deadline for submitting a proposal is March 28, 2019 at 11:59 pm (ET). The selected proposals will be notified by email on June 2019.
