The Federal Reserve Board recently announced that Andrea Levere, President of Prosperity Now, has been selected as the Chair of the Board’s Community Advisory Council (CAC) after serving as Vice Chair during 2018 and becoming a member in 2017.

The CAC provides information, advice and recommendations to the Board on key issues including asset and wealth building, economic development and affordable housing. The CAC is scheduled to meet in May and November of 2019.

“I am deeply honored to serve on the Community Advisory Council and to have the opportunity to chair the Council in 2019,” Levere said.  “The CAC plays an incredibly important role in bringing the challenges faced by low- and moderate-income people in this country to the attention of the Federal Reserve Board. I want to thank outgoing chair Roberto Barragan for his outstanding leadership of the CAC, and I look forward to guiding the work of our talented and diverse Council in the months to come.”

The Federal Reserve Board created the CAC in 2015 to “offer diverse perspectives on the economic circumstances and financial services needs of consumers and communities,” with a mandate to pay particular attention to the concerns of low- and moderate-income people.  Donald Hinkle-Brown, President and CEO of the Reinvestment Fund in Philadelphia, was selected Vice Chair for 2019.

Levere has led Prosperity Now as its president since 2004, and will serve as a featured speaker at the organization’s annual I’M HOME Conference in Nashville from December 3-5. The Conference will engage a diverse group of housing professionals about the potential of manufactured housing, in addition to discussing access to affordable homeownership.
