Guillermo Cantor, Ph.D., is Director of Applied Research at Prosperity Now, where he leads the strategic development and execution of the organization’s research function. In that capacity, he oversees a broad range of research projects that seek to identify and better understand the barriers to prosperity in low- and medium-income communities and communities of color.
Prior to joining Prosperity Now, Guillermo held research and teaching positions at various organizations and academic institutions in the United States and Latin America. For the past two decades, his research has focused on migrant communities, women workers, and the living conditions of vulnerable groups.
Most recently, he served as Director of Research at the American Immigration Council, where he oversaw the organization’s research efforts and managed its research team. During his tenure at the Council, he authored numerous influential publications on various aspects of immigration policy and immigrant integration. He also contributed to the expansion of the organization’s role in the transparency arena by shedding light on government agencies’ practices and outcomes that typically remain invisible to the public.
Guillermo holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Maryland, College Park, a M.A. in Economic Sociology from the National University of San Martin (Argentina) and a B.A. in Political Science from the National University of Rosario (Argentina).
