The United States has a significant and growing racial wealth divide, and one of the largest drivers of the divide is homeownership. Decades of discriminatory practices in the housing market and racist policies at all levels of government created racial disparities in homeownership rates and outcomes. On Wednesday, April 12, Prosperity Now, the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, Capital Area Asset Builders, the Urban Institute and other experts took part in a discussion on the intersection of homeownership and the racial wealth divide and the policies that could improve opportunities for homeowners of color.
