Expanding Retirement Security for All Workers

Saving for retirement is critical to increasing financial security, and right now, the typical American household is falling far short. Half the families in this country have no money at all in retirement accounts. The median amount of retirement savings among all households is just $5,000. Among those households with any savings, the median amount is $60,000, still far less than many workers will need to maintain their standard of living in retirement.

This Federal Policy Brief highlights recommendations for how we can expand retirement savings options to all workers.
