Darlene Goins is executive vice president and head of Banking Inclusion Initiative for Wells Fargo. Launched in May 2021, the initiative is Wells Fargo’s commitment to help more people who are unbanked gain access to affordable, mainstream bank accounts, with a focus on removing barriers to financial inclusion for Black and African American, Hispanic and Native American households, which account for more than half of America’s 5.9 million unbanked households. Goins leads the overall strategy and cross-enterprise teams building out programs that support and track the progress of the initiative. Previously, Goins served as head of Financial Health Philanthropy for the Wells Fargo Foundation, responsible for investing Wells Fargo’s resources in national nonprofit programs that open pathways to economic advancement for underserved communities. She led strategic initiatives in collaboration with nonprofits and community stakeholders designed to increase financial inclusion and access, reduce debt, drive savings and wealth-building behavior, and transform systems. Goins joined Wells Fargo in 2016 as head of Hands on Banking®, the company’s award-winning financial education and capability program that has benefitted more than 12 million youth, adults, seniors, military and entrepreneurs. Earlier, Goins was a scores executive at FICO, where she led FICO® Score Open Access, a consumer credit score program that earned accolades from the Obama administration, regulators, and consumer advocacy groups, among others. She also held leadership positions at analytic-based software companies Nomis Solutions, First Data Corporation, and ALI Solutions. A member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and active community leader, Goins is based in San Francisco and currently serves on the boards of national nonprofits Prosperity Now, the BAI and the American Bankers Association Foundation, where she is vice chair. She also serves as treasurer of the San Francisco Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and on the Marin County Priority Setting Committee. Goins was named to Diversity Woman Magazine’s Class of 2023: Elite 100 Black Women Leaders in

Roma Kaundal is Head of U.S. Philanthropy at JPMorganChase, overseeing the firm’s corporate philanthropy strategy focused on bringing economic opportunities to communities across the U.S. Prior to this role, Roma served as Deputy Director for Global Philanthropy, leading strategic planning and management operations for the firm’s philanthropic activities. Roma was also an execution lead for Corporate Responsibility’s $2B portion of the firm’s $30B Racial Equity Commitment.
Before joining JPMorganChase, Roma was the Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Council on Foreign Relations, a leading foreign policy think tank and policy organization. There she spearheaded major launches and initiatives, including a corporate relations function that provided geopolitical risk analysis to Fortune 500 private sector companies. She was a facilitator on taskforces and roundtables focused on U.S. competitiveness and played a leadership role in managing diplomatic relations with foreign delegations and U.S. government officials.

Erica Opstad is the Managing Director of Community Affairs and President of the U.S. Bank Foundation. Since joining U.S. Bank in 1998, Erica has been a driving force behind the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts. As a senior leader, she oversees national strategies and programs focused on philanthropic giving, employee volunteerism, disaster response, and civic engagement.
Erica leads a dedicated team of community affairs and engagement professionals across the U.S. Bank enterprise. Leigh Phillips is the President and CEO of SaverLife, a national nonprofit using technology and data to improve the financial health of low- to moderate-income households. Over 700,000 low- to moderate-income Americans have joined SaverLife, setting aside almost $1 billion in savings. She previously led the San Francisco Office of Financial Empowerment, where she launched Bank On San Francisco and Kindergarten to College. Leigh co-founded the Cities for Financial Empowerment Coalition, serves on the CFE Fund board, and has held community advisory roles with the FDIC and CFPB. Originally from the UK, she holds degrees from the University of Manchester and lives in the Washington, D.C. area.
Timothy Flacke is Co-Founder and CEO of Commonwealth, the national nonprofit organization that builds financial security and opportunity for people living on low-and-moderate incomes through innovation and partnerships. Melissa Koide is the CEO of FinRegLab, a nonprofit research center that tests new technologies and data and facilitates dialogue to inform public policy and drive the financial sector toward a responsible and inclusive financial marketplace. FinRegLab evaluates how technology and data can be safely used to increase financial inclusion and improve financial services for consumers, small businesses, and communities. FinRegLab’s AI and machine learning research has informed and advanced public policies and market practices on the inclusive and fair use of machine learning algorithms in high-risk, high-reward use cases such as credit underwriting.
Prior to establishing FinRegLab, Melissa served almost five years as the U.S. Treasury Department’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Consumer Policy. In that role, Melissa led the work to create the agency’s consumer policy positions and research on how banks and nonbanks were leveraging data and technology to improve consumers’ financial access and well-being. Melissa also helped to establish the myRA, a government offered preretirement savings account. She has testified repeatedly before the Senate Banking and House Financial Services Committees and spoken widely to policy, industry, and consumer-advocacy audiences. Melissa currently serves on the New York Fed’s Innovation Council, FINRA’s Fintech Industry Committee, and the New York State Department of Financial Services’ Financial Innovation Advisory Board.

Zaire “Coach Z” Calvin is a lifelong Altadena resident, community leader, and coach dedicated to resilience and justice. Through Xtreme Athletics, John Muir High School, and now Oaks Christian School, he has mentored countless young athletes, helping them reach the next level. His influence can be seen in the journeys of Calen Bullock (USC All-American, now with the Houston Texans), John Humphrey (USC/Las Vegas Raiders), and rising star Deshonne Redeaux (Oaks Christian/USC commit).
After the devastating Eaton Fire of 2025 destroyed his home, displaced families, and claimed the life of his sister, Calvin stepped into a new role as the voice of survivors. He founded Altadena Natives Rebuild (ANR) and the Phoenix Rising Program, while also helping to pass key legislation such as AB 851 and SB 663 to protect fire-impacted communities. His mission is clear: to keep Altadena families rooted, rebuild with equity, and ensure the next generation thrives.
Ray Boshara is a Senior Policy Advisor at both WashU’s Center for Social Development and the Aspen Institute Financial Security Program. From 2022-2024, Ray served as a Legislative Fellow with U.S. Senator Bob Casey, where he developed Senator Casey’s 401Kids proposal—which would automatically establish lifelong, progressively funded investment accounts at birth for all children. With Ray’s expertise in early wealth building policy, Ray advised Congress and the Administration on Trump Accounts, signed into law in July of 2025. Previously, Ray was with the St. Louis Fed, New America, and CFED (now Prosperity Now). Ray’s books include The Future of Building Wealth and The Next Progressive Era. Emily Wielk is a senior policy analyst with BPC’s Human Capital program, where she advises senior leadership on policy and program strategy and helps lead research on economic opportunity, which includes policies related to tax, government benefits, paid family leave, and child care. Her work has been featured in major national media outlets.
She has held various positions within the organization, including prior roles with BPC’s Economic Policy Program where she helped build and launch the organization’s working families policy agenda. Prior to joining BPC, Wielk worked in the offices of Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT).
Wielk is currently pursuing a PhD in public policy and administration with a concentration in social policy from George Washington University. She earned her B.A. in sociology and public policy from Gettysburg College.

Since beginning his service with NTU in 1988, Pete has written and edited numerous policy papers, informational publications, and activist manuals, as well as studies on topics such as Congressional perquisites, citizen-initiated tax revolts, antitrust and competition regulation, and Pentagon spending. He has testified before Congress on matters ranging from Government-Sponsored Enterprises in lending to Medicare and federal pension reforms, from underground infrastructure to small business taxpayer concerns. He has lectured in the U.S. and abroad on issues such as tax administration reform, and has lobbied on numerous legislative matters including the IRS Restructuring and Reform Act and successor proposals, the Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment, and the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act.
Pete has appeared on every major television network, and regularly provides interviews and commentaries to cable channels such as CNN, CNBC, and the Fox Business. He is a frequent guest on radio programs from coast-to-coast, and has been widely featured in print media, including The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, U.S. News & World Report, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Forbes, and Money Magazine.
Pete graduated cum laude from Webster University in St. Louis, MO with a degree in History and Political Science. Before coming to NTU, Sepp served with the St. Louis County Board of Elections and with a U.S. Senate campaign.
Jim Park has nearly 35 years of experience in government, business, and the nonprofit sector. He currently serves as the CEO of the Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM), a leading nonprofit dedicated to advancing Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) representation in investment management.
Throughout his career, Park has been a strong advocate for the AAPI community. He is the past Chair of the Asian Pacific American Institute of Congressional Studies (APAICS) and played a key role in founding two major AAPI organizations: the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) and the National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development (National CAPACD).
In addition to his advocacy work, Park is an accomplished entrepreneur. He co-founded The Mortgage Collaborative (TMC) and helped launch its venture capital fund focused on mortgage technology. He also co-founded New Vista Asset Management, a firm specializing in distressed asset management with a mission to restore homeownership in underserved markets.
Park’s government and policy experience spans over two decades. He began his career as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C., advocating for low-income communities, and later served as a political appointee in the Clinton Administration. He was Vice President at Freddie Mac, where he worked on regulatory and business issues, and served as Chair of the Federal Reserve’s Consumer Advisory Council.
Beyond his work in finance and policy, Park has contributed to various organizations. He was the Chair of the Audit & Finance Committee for the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) based in Kenya and currently chairs the Program Committee of the Smithsonian Institution’s SITES board, which brings arts and education programming to communities across the U.S. Additionally, Jim served on the board of several organizations dedicated to affordable housing and community development including Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF), Mercy Housing, Asian American for Equality (AAFE) and others.
Marcus L. Niles Xi’an Lichtenstein is the co-founder and CEO of Nestment, a platform helping aspiring buyers access homeownership by modernizing housing counseling and combining data, AI, and human guidance to create conventional and alternative paths to buying a home. After attending Harvard, Niles founded several startups in the mobile technology and B2B SaaS space. During this time, he became passionate about helping friends and family achieve homeownership. Brian is co-founder and CEO of Module, a Pittsburgh-based modular housing company whose mission is to bring attainable housing to more people. Trained as an architect, Brian worked in Blue Sky at Walt Disney Imagineering developing new ride concepts for the Disney Parks. At the Gulf Coast Community Design Studio, he worked on affordable housing and community planning in post-Katrina Biloxi, Mississippi. Later, Brian served as a Fulbright Scholar in the Dominican Republic where he conducted research on green infrastructure and disaster resiliency at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santiago. In 2016 Brian co-directed “Within Formal Cities” a feature length documentary about the global housing crisis, which has since screened in over 20 cities worldwide. In addition to his role at Module, Brian serves on several non-profit boards, including Blue Missions, a Miam-based organization focused on providing sustainable access to clean water, and Partner 4 Work, a Pittsburgh-based organization focused on workforce development.
Janis Bowdler is a nationally recognized leader in economic inclusion and equity, with more than two decades of experience spanning government, philanthropy and the nonprofit sector. Most recently, she served as Counselor for Racial Equity at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. In that role, she launched the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility, established the Treasury Advisory Committee on Racial Equity and oversaw efforts to embed equity considerations into implementation of the American Rescue Plan and Inflation Reduction Act.
Before joining the Treasury Department, Bowdler was president of the JPMorgan Chase & Co. Foundation, overseeing a $2 billion philanthropic portfolio aimed at expanding economic opportunity in more than 35 countries. She also led the firm’s Equity and Inclusion Working Group and collaborated on JPMorgan Chase’s $30 billion commitment to address structural racial inequality within the U.S. economy.
Earlier in her career, Bowdler spent a decade as economic policy director at UnidosUS (formerly National Council of La Raza). She has authored several publications on financial opportunity and economic mobility. Most recently she co-authored Building Equitable Cities: How to Drive Economic Mobility and Regional Growth. She previously served on the boards of Raza Development Fund, the Low Income Investment Fund and Opportunity Agenda.
Bowdler earned a master’s degree in urban policy from Cleveland State University and a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary social science from Malone University.
Orson Aguilar is the Founding President and CEO of LatinoProsperity, a national nonprofit dedicated to advancing equitable policies that build wealth within the Latinx community. He envisions a thriving U.S. economy where Latinos can build intergenerational wealth.
A nationally recognized leader in economic justice, Orson brings extensive experience from previous leadership roles as President of the Greenlining Institute, Executive Director at UnidosUS Action Fund, and Senior Director at Oportun. His expertise spans policy development, advocacy, and coalition building for underserved communities.
Growing up in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, Orson gained a firsthand understanding of challenges facing working-class communities. He serves on multiple governing boards, including The East Los Angeles Community Corporation and Innovate Public Schools, and has held advisory positions with the Federal Reserve of San Francisco, Bank of America, BBVA, JPMorgan Chase, and PG&E.
His contributions have earned recognition from Congress and local government, including a Congressional Record Award and "Orson Aguilar Day" in Oakland. Orson has testified before Congress and is frequently quoted in major media outlets.
Rita Germán is Vice President on the National Community Engagement team with JPMorgan Chase. The Community Engagement team within Corporate Responsibility identifies, develops and maintains authentic and enduring relationships with key stakeholders to shape and influence the firm’s approach to serving clients, customers and communities. In this role, Rita oversees a grant and stakeholder portfolio of national Civil Rights advocacy organizations.
Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase, Rita served as Director of Community Investing for John Hancock Financial, a life insurance and financial services firm based in Boston, MA. Rita has strong ties to the non-profit sector, having worked for United Way of Massachusetts Bay & Merrimack Valley for close to a decade and currently serves on the non-profit boards of The Community Builders, More Than Words, The Boston Foundation’s Latino Equity Fund and Boston Women’s Fund. Rita lives in Washington, D.C. and is a graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor’s in Communications and is a proud daughter of Dominican immigrants.
Marlene Orozco's deep subject-matter expertise includes a decade of research experience on reducing systems-level bias facing people of color, women, and other historically underrepresented groups in entrepreneurship, finance, and the digital economy. As a mixed methods researcher by training, Dr. Orozco has qualitative, in-depth research experience coupled with expertise in big data, multivariate analysis, and large-scale survey design.
Dr. Orozco has co-authored an academic volume, Advancing U.S. Latino Entrepreneurship (Purdue University Press, 2020), written academic publications in peer-reviewed journals like Small Business Economics, Social Science Quarterly, and Qualitative Sociology, and authored several industry reports and research briefs. A well-recognized scholar, Dr. Orozco’s research has been featured in over 100 media outlets (Bloomberg, Forbes, MarketWatch, etc.) and she has been named Silicon Valley Business Journal’s “40 Under 40: Top Young Professionals.”
In 2019, Dr. Orozco founded Stratified Insights, LLC, a research consulting firm that provides academic grade research solutions to organizations from research planning and design, data collection and analysis, to reports and presentations, tailor-made for key stakeholders. Dr. Orozco formerly served as Associate Director on entrepreneurship research initiatives at Stanford Graduate School of Business and led Global Policy Research at Meta.

Tonantzin Carmona is a Fellow at the Brookings Institution, focused on wealth and inequality, financial and emerging technologies, and state and local policy implementation. She previously served as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy at the White House National Economic Council (NEC), as well as Senior Advisor at the Department of Treasury’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Implementation Office.

Carmona’s professional background spans roles in public policy, communications, politics, and philanthropy. She championed federal policies as the Illinois political director for the 2020 presidential campaign of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and as Sen. Warren’s deputy press secretary on Capitol Hill. At the local level, Carmona spearheaded several citywide initiatives at the City of Chicago.

Sabrina Terry, Chief of Strategic Programs and Development at NCRC, is an advocate for social justice with a focus on racial wealth equity, immigrant integration, and environmental justice. She leads partnership development with corporations, government agencies, and financial institutions to expand community investments that reflect the visions of local leaders. She also oversees the creation of resources that strengthen the capacity and agency of BIPOC communities.

Marisa Calderon is the President & CEO of Prosperity Now, a national organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., dedicated to inspiring bold action and equipping organizations with the tools, research, and resources needed to help people build prosperity so everyone can thrive.
Calderon, an experienced executive who is regularly recognized, awarded, and cited nationwide for her expertise in the housing and financial services industries, most recently served as the executive director at the NCRC Community Development Fund (NCRC CDF) and as chief of community finance and mobility at the NCRC CDF’s parent company, the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC).
Calderon’s expertise spans more than 20 years across the private and non-profit sectors focused on economic development and equity. At NCRC, Calderon focused on advancing economic mobility for communities impacted by systemic inequality and disinvestment. Under her leadership, NCRC CDF had capital at work in 20 cities across the country developing affordable homeownership inventory and deployed $175 million in pandemic relief funding in Illinois alone.
Before joining NCRC, Calderon was executive director for nearly a decade at the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), the largest minority and real estate trade association in the country. Calderon held prior roles in the financial services industry, most recently at Citi, and has experience in the public service sector including as a congressional candidate.
A native Spanish speaker and granddaughter of braceros, Calderon received her BA in Anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley and serves on several boards and board committees including Working Solutions, Alinement Initiative and Champions Funding.
Chrissi Johnson is the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Prosperity Now, where she leads enterprise-wide strategies that strengthen economic opportunity and financial stability. She brings nearly two decades of experience across government, corporate, and nonprofit sectors, with expertise in public affairs, policy development, and strategic engagement.
Chrissi’s career spans leadership roles at Rocket Companies, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and on Capitol Hill with Senators Elizabeth Warren and Al Franken. She also served on the Obama 2008 campaign and Presidential Transition Team. Her experience gives her a unique perspective at the intersection of consumer protection, financial services, and cross-sector collaboration.
In addition to her role at Prosperity Now, Chrissi is the founder of Alinement Advisors and The Alinement Initiative, and co-host of the REalinement Retreat, initiatives that convene leaders to align housing policy, real estate technology, and community-centered solutions. Dave Uejio is a distinguished leader in fair and affordable housing and consumer protection, known for his impactful tenure in executive roles at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), including as Acting Director. Throughout his career, Uejio has consistently championed policies and initiatives designed to safeguard vulnerable consumers and expand access to housing opportunities. He is also a well respected expert in organizational strategy, operations, and performance. His leadership is marked by a deep commitment to ensuring financial markets are fair, transparent, and accountable, underpinning his reputation as a key advocate for economic justice and consumer well-being.
Robin McKinney is Co-Founder and CEO of the CASH Campaign of Maryland, a nonprofit that improves the financial security of low-to-moderate income Marylanders. The CASH Campaign of Maryland is the result of a recent merger between the Baltimore CASH Campaign and the Maryland CASH Campaign. CASH and its statewide network of partners annually prepares 25,000 free tax returns, bringing in $30 million in tax refunds to low-income taxpayers, provides free financial education and coaching to over 7,000 residents, and conducts advocacy on state and federal policies. For the past two decades, Robin has worked in the field of asset building, engaging in fundraising, advocacy, and program and coalition management, including for the Annie E. Casey Foundation and East Harbor CDC. She has a BSW from Elizabethtown College and a MSW from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work, where she co-founded the Financial Social Work Initiative and is currently an Adjunct Professor. Robin is a board member of Prosperity Now and a member of Maryland’s Financial Education and Capability Commission.
Courtney Howard Hodapp is Head of Community Engagement for Corporate Responsibility at JPMorgan Chase. Marla Bilonick serves as President and CEO of NALCAB. She is a seasoned leader in economic and community development with over 25 years of experience in small business development and community-based financial services, with a focus on driving and uplifting the contributions of the U.S. Latino population to the overall economy.
At NALCAB, she has led the organization through a period of exponential growth. Under her tenure, NALCAB's membership has almost doubled, and the network's coverage now spans every state in the nation as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The organization has also achieved significant gains in overall revenue and net asset growth. In addition, NALCAB's staff has expanded to support the needs of its growing network of economic development practitioners.
Prior to joining NALCAB, Marla served as Executive Director of the Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) in Washington, DC, where she helped propel the local economy through programs that advanced the economic and social mobility of low- to moderate-income Latinos. From 2016 to 2020, she also served as a member of NALCAB’s Board of Directors.
In 2021, Marla was appointed Chair of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund Community Development Advisory Board, for which she is currently serving a second term. She also serves in an advisory capacity to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
Earlier in her career, Marla worked in the private sector, leading economic development initiatives in Latin America. She also served as the Director of Seedco’s Upper Manhattan Business Solutions Center in Harlem, a public-private initiative supporting small businesses with access to capital and consulting services. Additionally, she helped lead Seedco’s long-term small business recovery strategy following the September 11, 2001, attacks.
She is a former Aspen Institute Emerging Leaders in Microbusiness (ELM2) Fellow and a graduate of the Citi/Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) Leadership Program at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She currently serves on the Community Advisory Councils for Capital One, PNC Bank, and TD Bank, and has advised Wells Fargo’s regional Where We Live initiative. In 2015, she was named a Community Champion by Capital One Bank for the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Alberto Ferreras is an author, filmmaker, and creative communications expert whose career spans multiple platforms, languages, and formats. He has written award-winning novels, plays, and screenplays, created documentary series for network television, and developed video installations for the Smithsonian Institution. Additionally, he has developed content and advertising campaigns for leading companies, including MTV, HBO, Televisa, Univision, Verizon, Toyota, AARP, and GSK, among others.
Jacob Murrell is a professional soccer player and rising community leader based in the Washington, D.C. region. Born and raised in Forest Hill, Maryland, Murrell rose to prominence in high school, where he was named the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year — before going on to star at Georgetown University.
In 2024, Murrell was selected 7th overall in the MLS SuperDraft by D.C. United, signing a multi-year contract and choosing to remain in his hometown community.
Off the field, Murrell actively engages in community initiatives across the region. He partners with D.C. United’s youth outreach and inclusion programs, for example, participating in adaptive clinics hosted in conjunction with So Kids SOAR, where he interacts with young athletes, promotes inclusion in sports, and reinforces that every child belongs. Through these efforts, he strives to reinvest in his community by offering visibility, motivation, and hands-on support to youth, particularly those who are traditionally underserved.
Sarah Bainton Kahn leads the National Community Engagement team for JPMorgan Chase. In this role she manages a team responsible for building and maintaining relationships with national nonprofit stakeholders that are critical to shaping and influencing the firm’s reputation and ability to understand and address concerns impacting customers and communities. Sarah has also worked in the firm’s Commercial Bank, where she supported the strategy team on social impact initiatives.
Before her current role at JPMorgan Chase, Sarah was the Managing Director of Programs for Living Cities, a collaborative of philanthropic foundations and financial institutions committed to building an inclusive economy and closing the racial wealth gap. In this role, she led all programmatic activities for the organization and was a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Sarah previously worked at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), where she helped start the Office of Financial Empowerment. Jackson S. Brossy is an experienced professional specializing in access to capital, economic development, and government contracting for Native American Tribes and entities and serves as Vice President, Native American Financial Services at Huntington Bank. Mr. Brossy previously served as Assistant Administrator for the Office of Native American Affairs, at the U.S. Small Business Administration. Before SBA, Mr. Brossy served as executive director for the Native CDFI Network as well as the Navajo Nation Washington Office. Mr. Brossy also serves on the boards of Change Labs and the Native American Agriculture Fund.
He is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and holds degrees from Stanford and Harvard University.
Bea Stotzer is an accomplished business woman, social entrepreneur and visionary leader who has been a pioneer in economic development/asset building field. As the CEO of NEWCapital, she manages multi-million dollar portfolios of affordable housing, business and economic development. She is a passionate leader who combines her business acumen with her commitment to creating communities that allow underserved Latino families to thrive.
New Economics for Women, a Latina economic development non-profit, was established through Bea’s adeptness at navigating financial products, leveraging an initial $97,000 grant into more than $280 million in investments, developed 1800 units of single and multi-family affordable housing in low-income communities throughout Southern California regions and Denver, Colorado, and created business incubators and small business loan funds. Her vision extends beyond a built environment to the development of asset building programs like the first matched-savings programs – Individual Development Accounts – in the country to help grow and protect family’s assets. She is now spearheading the development of the Latina Wealth Index to measure wealth among immigrant Latina entrepreneurs.
An astute strategist, Bea is a sought-after national thought leader on domestic economic Policy. She serves as a strategic advisor and executive board member for national non-profits, foundations, and corporations. Her leadership skills and executive experience have been invaluable to setting the vision for several women owned companies and national non-profits. Garnesha Ezediaro is the lead of Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Greenwood Initiative - an effort to increase intergenerational Black wealth and address systemic underinvestment in Black communities. Garnesha is a proven leader with over a decade of experience serving as a catalyst for individual, community, and organizational growth. With a dedicated passion for transformation, Garnesha has worked across the public, private, and philanthropic sectors to design experiences, programs and content that inspires mission-focused, human-led innovation.
Garnesha returned to Bloomberg Philanthropies after serving as National Director for Black Outreach for the Mike for Black America Campaign. Prior to the campaign Garnesha worked in the media and technology sector where she served in Global Leadership Development Programs at Verizon Media - partnering with a dynamic team to deliver trainings and targeted development programs for over 11,000 employees globally. Her years of public service also include serving in strategic communications for the Government Innovation portfolio at Bloomberg Philanthropies, a unique program to support mayors and other city leaders in strengthening local governments around the world. Garnesha also served as Communications Director and spokesperson for New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu and as Director of Marketing at Brick City Development Corporation in Newark, NJ under the leadership of former Mayor Cory Booker.
Garnesha received a Bachelor of Arts from American University with a double undergraduate major in Public Communication and Interdisciplinary Studies: Communications, Law, Economics and Government. Garnesha also studied at New York University’s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service in Public and Nonprofit Management and holds a Certificate of Public Performance Management from Rutgers University-Newark.
